A little about me… Margot is my middle name, and Conor was taken from a distant relative. It’s not my legal name. I Created this nom de plume to put a little distance between my other career and my author-self.

However, everything I write about in my news letters is personal, or about my journey as a writer… what I learn or research. There has been a lot of research in recent years. Learning how to set up an authors platform, and build a website, format a book, and a million other related things. I am not very tech savvy, so it seems like I spend too much time watching tutorials.
Although I spend a lot of time writing, I do have other interests. (laughing). I really love to swim. I do laps at the public pool near my condo, but I prefer swimming in the ocean whenever I get the chance.
I have always cared about my health. Preferring natural remedies and preventative care. A big part of that is eating right. I love to cook. but I suppose I go about it in a rather non traditional way. I don’t use recipes, I have a feel for ingredients, how the flavors and textures will work together. I tend to experiment with whatever I have on hand. I may not make any dish the same for that reason. I thought about writing an alternative cookbook because some of my experiments end up being rather tasty. But that would mean measuring everything rather than a bit of this or that, and adding a little more until it feels right.
I gave up sugar many years ago, but I do have a sweet tooth. So, I make my own treats using healthy sugar alternatives. I also stopped eating grains a while ago. (except wild rice, which isn’t technically a grain). I’ve been experimenting with baking using alternatives, like Acorn, Almond, & Cassava flours. It’s a challenge because they do not have the same glutenous properties that grains do. But I like a challenge.
I do yoga, I meditate, practice Tai-Chi, I like long walks, especially in any natural environment. I’m not a runner, I’m not religious, and I believe any misunderstanding can be worked out if you are willing to talk about it with mutual respect and acceptance. I’m rambling here…
I read a lot and love Science Fiction and Fantasy most, I occasionally read mystery and crime novels too. I joined a slew of writers groups, they all have a different focus. Some for critiquing, some for craft, or swapping reviews or promotions. Others are purely supportive. It is such a great time to be a writer. I feel truly blessed to have so many great author friends in my life, they inspire me and keep me going.
I tend to write like a cook. I am not a plotter. I get into the flow and then let it take me where it wants to go. Which also means that my chapters are not always coming to me sequentially. At some point I have to examine what I have and put chapters in order. Today I finished the fist draft of my second book, after a couple weeks of putting that one in order. It feels great to wrap it up! Now on to editing
