Who We Are

Our group was formed after Alexa Bigwarfe’s Women in Publishing Conference in May 2022. An invitation was sent to all participants who identified as fantasy writers with an invitation to join a women writer’s support group.

We began with monthly meetings to share where we were in our writing journeys. Newbies and established writers came together to share our experiences and resources, challenges and successes. Originally know as the Fantasy Women Writers Support Group, our name has changed to Women Writing Other Worlds to include science fiction. Many of our members write in both genres.

We are evolving as our membership grows and look forward to the publication of our first anthology in the fall of 2025.

What this group means to our members:

Our group’s greatest strength lies in how we’ve built a supportive community where collaboration fuels our shared dreams.

I value our discussions on improving our writing craft, plus the nuts and bolts of book promotion strategies.

WWOW is a fantastic group of writers dedicated to improving their craft and learning the publishing biz. All are incredibly supportive and helpful, sharing their knowledge with each other. I love our workshops. And I have fun each meeting catching up with the ladies and learning about their progress. Fantastic group!

My membership in WWOW has been an excellent experience, both professionally and personally. On a professional level, it has provided me with networking opportunities and information about resources available for authors. On a personal level, I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie of a great group of people. I am very glad I joined!.
